Great Trees of Ellesmere

The Great Trees of Ellesmere is a fun contest to celebrate the incredible urban and rural treescapes of Ellesmere, Shropshire, along with a selection of villages and hamlets, including Tetchill, Welsh Frankton, Perthy, Hordley, Lee, Welshampton, and Criftins.

We are looking for trees with a unique story to tell.
Beautiful trees that capture the imagination or mean something to someone. Are you particularly fond of a tree in or around Ellesmere?
Is there a tree that you enjoy seeing, a tree that has special personal memories for you?

Nominations for ‘entrees’ are now open until mid-September 2026.
You can nominate more than one tree if desired.
Please seek the permission of the landowner before submitting your nomination.
‘Entrees’ will be displayed on thetreehunter.com site.

A unique, hand-made trophy, kindly sponsored and manufactured by XXXXX, will be presented to the lucky winning tree nominator.
Prizes will also be awarded to second and third-placed trees.

A voting panel of 14  ‘Celebritree’ judges will choose their favourite top three trees from a shortlist drawn up from nominated trees in late September 2026.

The winner(s) will be announced in early October 2026 (Date TBC).
